Solo Tua - new start!

I've had only four focus projects for the past couple of months. Between the difficulty of Mushroom and Fern, the all-red of Dragons of Sumatra, and the confetti on Unicorn Tapestry, I was getting kind of worn out. My fourth project is the Magic Potions Temperature SAL, which I haven't posted here yet, but also haven't made much progress on.

Time for a new start!

I knew I wanted a small Mirabilia (aka the Nora Corbett line) and I let my wife pick from all the patterns I'd already matched with fabric. She chose Solo Tua, which wouldn't have made my top five personally, but the boss has spoken! I think the universe just wants me to stitch this for some reason because I didn't even buy this pattern, it was sent to me in error when I ordered a different one. I thought it was cute and paid for it instead of returning it.

And yes, I did get the pattern I originally ordered as well. Stitched it, too! :p

I started Solo Tua on May 11 and this is my progress as of May 16:

The fabric color is way off so hopefully I can get a better picture of it in a future update. There was no tag on it so I'm not sure what color it is, though I suspect it's a Crafty Kitten piece soooo no chance of getting one for yourself if you fancy it.

Speaking of which, who are some good dyers these days? I currently buy from Picture This Plus, Fiberlicious, and Chromatic Alchemy, but it would be good to have more options...

  1. Can't help you with fabric dyers sorry, I buy locally here in New Zealand. The current exchange rate and waiting forever for mail to arrive from the US is putting me off. Have fun with your new stitch, she may not be your choice, but it sounds like fate sent her your way for a good reason.

  2. Lovely new start. I do miss Dawn too.
I tend to get most of my fabrics from Kate at Sparklies here in the UK, all her fabrics are on The Viewer so you can check them out with the Nora Corbett designs.

    1. I've been meaning to try Sparklies for a long time and never have, so maybe now is the time! Yes, still missing Dawn over here, she has such a talent.

  3. Ooh, off to a good start, she'll be a lovely mermaid!
I normally buy my fabric in person since I like to really see it. I've done some ice dyeing on my own, I need to play around and do some more.
