Wow, it's been quite a long time since I posted a picture of Fatum by Passione Ricamo! I think I mentioned finishing the border, but I've done a bit of work on the figure inside the border as well.
Sorry for the bad angle on this photo. :p
Honestly, this project is slow going and I'm not particularly fond of it. At this point, it's almost like I'm sticking it out because it's more than halfway done, sunk cost fallacy be damned. The hair is incredibly tedious and the color changes feel sketch-like rather than deliberately designed. Maybe a different portion of the project will be more fun.
If I could put in some solid time on this one, I know I could make good progress! Maybe I need to just suck it up and make a better effort. Seeing good progress, even on a project that's not my favorite, does wonders for my desire to complete it...
Well done on persevering with the design. The border put me off right from the beginning!
ReplyDeleteShe does look good in the photo though and I love the fabric you chose.
The border is really overkill for this piece. And it originally had beads in the place of the purple stitching, plus there were MORE beads inbetween the swirls, too! It was totally nuts, and even this toned down version is too much. :x
DeleteThe wings are gorgeous, though...
Wow! Is the border done in metallic threads?!?!
ReplyDeleteGood luck :)
Yes, the scrolling part of the border is all metallic. Very shiny! :D
DeleteThere's nothing worse than stitching on a project you are not enjoying. But you've come so far it would be a shame to see her become a UFO. Part of me wants to tell you to stick with it, part of me wants to say put her down and do something which you will really enjoy. I'm not being much help am I?! Good luck going forwards; I'll support whichever decision you make! :)
ReplyDeleteWow she is so beautiful xxx
ReplyDeleteKudos to you, I couldnt stick with a project I don't like.I have a pattern by the same designer one of my kids choose, but I cannot get started with it due to the gigantic pages paper pattern.
ReplyDeleteIt does look quite lovely.
I'm starting to question my sanity with this one!
DeleteThis designer offers PDF charts now, I think, if you don't mind using one of those. :3

It's really beautiful! Hopefully it will be worth it in the end.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it disappointing when you start a project only to realise you just don't love it as much as you thought you would? I hope you can put your big girl pants on though and get it finished :) x
ReplyDeleteTotally disappointing. This project and the second Passione Ricamo SAL are the reasons why I've completely given up on the idea of mystery SALs. Never going to take a chance on something I might not like again. :x
DeleteI'm going to try and finish but maaaaan...
It's looking really good though!
ReplyDeleteShe looks lovely. Hang in there. It will be worth it. I'm currently having a hard time stitching my HAED. Just running out of enthusiasm I guess.
ReplyDeleteThe border is so beautiful - and it does look as if you have spent hours so far. Sending you strength
ReplyDeleteI agree with Melinda
ReplyDeleteI love love that border
When its framed it will look stunning i probably would put the beads also in the border
I hope you will continue with this because the end result will be stunning and i dont think you will regret going on with it :)
Look forward to see it growing
Have a lovely weekend
