Butterfly Garden... one year later

Wow, it's been over a year since I posted about this project, and that post way back then was the only one I ever made for it!  This is Butterfly Garden by Drawn Thread, which I snagged just after it was released... and then proceeded to ignore. *shame*

I'm sort of on page two (out of five).  There's still a little more work to be done on page one... the phlox is missing half its petals and there's some missing bugs, but it's mostly complete.

I kind of like how the bergamot it just BERG in this picture so here ya go. :p

No flash:

Flash:

Both pictures are bad in their own way but you kind of get the idea.  I'm not really sure why I put this aside for so long, I did the entire bergamot last night, and that was with a limited amount of stitching time and a bad case of the crankies...

  3. I do love this piece! If you've popped by my blog, you may have noticed me putting a little time into this one, as well. I've only finished through Phlox.

Are you using the recommended silks? I was too cheap to get them, so I opted for DMC for the solids, and Threadworx for the varied.

    Keep it up!

    1. Hey Karen! I missed that post on your blog but I went back a few pages to find it. I like your fabric! :)

Yeah, I did get the kit for this one but I'm kind of regretting at as the silks don't seem any nicer than ordinary DMC. :/ I also got the kit for the companion piece, Herb Garden, and it was much cheaper than the kit for this one because it only included lengths of thread instead of full skeins. Buuuut I find the lengths of the variegated threads on Butterfly Garden super annoying because they're only about 12 inches long. GAH! So I'm hoping the Herb Garden threads are longer, but I can't remember...

      Well, that was rambly.
