early goals post

Posting early as I know this week will be in-freakin-sane!

August goals were:
- Finish beading part 3 of Octopus Treasure Cave - YES!
- Stitch part 4 of Octopus Treasure Cave - YES!
- Stitch part 2 of the PR SAL - YES!
- Frame the Lesley Teare mermaid - in progress (ran out of masking tape!)
- Finish page 2 of HAED QS Iris - YES!
- NO shopping at all, no excuses, no exceptions! - of course not...

It's pretty clear to me that no shopping at all isn't going to be a realistic goal.  I did manage to go to the LNS and buy only what I actually needed for a project, and I shouldn't count the fabric and threads my wife ordered from Etsy against myself... but I did spend some.  I picked up a larger cut of 28ct black evenweave for Transcendence, plus a piece of white Cashel for a project my wife wants to stitch.

My big confession is spending $50 during HAED's last 50% off sale of the year.  I suppose I can't confess to that without at least sharing pictures of the art that tempted me. :)

So much for being one of the HAED doubters.  I can say one thing for sure... I've discovered some artists I truly enjoy and I'll be buying some prints to pretty up my walls at home!

Well, now that I've rambled a lot, I suppose I should set some goals for next month.

September goals:
- Frame the Lesley Teare mermaid (if it's not finished in August)
- Finish Wisteria
- Stitch part 3 of the PR SAL

That's it.  I need to keep it light because I don't know how soon I'll be able to stitch again after my eye surgery, and... we're going to Ireland for a week at the end of September!  Which, of course, is why I need eye surgery - don't want be wearing my stupid glasses in vacation pics!

Of course, I'll be stitching on the plane... on the world's longest flight... *sigh*

  1. A lovely selection from the HAED sale, did you manage to resist the Labour Day sale on just now? I was weak and bought three charts, despite me saying I would buy no more until I finish one...oh well ;)

Hope the surgery goes well and you enjoy your holiday.

    1. I'm always tempted by a sale, but I've resisted so far, aside from sending a RAK. :) The only chart that's squawking at me right now is the new mini Sara Butcher mermaid, but she can wait!

      Maybe. :)

    1. Thank you! I figure missing just one goal isn't too bad... and I haven't spent as much as I have in other months, so I'll just consider that one to be a work in progress. :)

  3. Oh those chart are wonderful! I didn't want to buy anything in the sale, too, because I have so little time for stitching and so many charts ;-)
Good luck with your goals =)

    1. Thanks! I know what you mean... with HAED alone (which I only started doing a few months ago!) I probably have enough charts for a lifetime. So I'll enjoy putting a few on my wishlist and use that as a reminder of prints to buy from the artists, instead of thinking I can stitch them all. :)

  4. Lol, I first read the title as "Earl Grey post". Am I running out of coffee in my blood, or I really should switch on tea? Anyway, great on all of your goals! No shopping is one of those impossible things like walking on thin air or something XD Good luck with your september goals!

    1. Mmm, Earl Grey sounds good right about now! I actually prefer Lady Grey tea (with the blue flowers in it) but I won't be picky. :)

I've learned my lesson with "no shopping" - I'll have to go with "less shopping" if I want to be successful. Maybe I should make a goal of looking through everything I have... and appreciate what is already there. I don't want to be wasteful...

  5. Ireland, what an amazing vacation, Excellent on your August goals. I am so terrible at goal completion - I am great at setting them, how do you keep from getting distracted, and stay focused.

    1. Gotta buy my tickets for Ireland or I'm not going anywhere! :)

I'm usually pretty bad about goals myself... I really wanted to focus this month because I was falling behind on my SAL pieces. I know if I fall behind, I probably won't catch up again, and that really bothers me! I also set myself relatively easy goals since I know I can't meet them if I aim too high. :)

  6. Great job on your August goals! I love the HAED patterns you've chosen. It appears we have a lot of the same tastes in stitching. Glad I found your blog (through Melinda over at Family Business) and am now happily following. Perused some of your older posts...your stitching is gorgeous :)

    1. Hi Melody, thanks for stopping by - I've followed you too! I never liked HAED before, but now I'm checking the site daily for new releases and looking at tons of WIPs. :) Then there's the old favorites... makes me want to dig in my stash and see what I should start next! Not that I should be starting anything with ten WIPs on the go... hmm...

  7. Love all the new HAEDs, especially the mermaids. Drool!

Great job on your goals! I think if I told myself I couldn't stitchy shop at all my head would explode.

Best of luck with the eye surgery! Ireland is calling. Oh, Danny Boy...

    1. I definitely have a thing for mermaids... the hard part will be deciding which one to do first!

Haha, I know! There are too many new things coming out, like the new Mirabilia fairy... CCN cottages... hmm. :)

I'm SO excited for Ireland but I have no idea how to plan an international trip! I figure if we get there, that's the major step, and the rest is just icing. :p
